Bruce Gertz, Acoustic and Electric Bassisit, Composer, Educator, Author Professor of Bass at Berklee College of Music since 1976
As an award winning bassist and composer Bruce Gertz is the recipient of National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Performance Award Grant, Massachusetts Cultural Council Musical Composition Award and numerous awards for outstanding Bassist from Boston Music Awards, A.S.C.A.P. Plus Popular Awards plus multiple recognition awards from The International Association of Jazz Educators and the Jazz Education Network.
Bruce also served on the board of directors of the International Society of Bassists and now serves the Advisory Board and is a contributing editor in Bass World Publications.
He earned Finalist awards from the International Song Writing Competition, International Acoustic Music Awards and USA Songwriting Competition for six compositions written from 2015 to 2019 and made it through the first-round Grammy pre-nominations with every entry. Blue Cube, Bruce Gertz group’s 2017 recording, received four stars in Downbeat Magazine.
Gertz is the author of six Jazz Education texts. Some of Bruce Gertz’s former students include Esperanza Spalding, Matt Pennman, Mathew Garrison, Massimo Bialcati, Marco Panascia, Hans Glawichnig, Oscar Stagnaro and many more.
Bruce has performed and/or recorded with such artists as Gary Burton, Jerry Bergonzi, John Abercrombie, Joey Calderazzo, Kenny Werner, Mick Goodrick, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Billy Hart, George Garzone, Mike Stern, Larry Coryell, Joe Lovano, Cab Calloway, Count Basie, Eddie Harris, Ted Curson, Charles McPhearson, Billy Ekstine, Jon Hendricks and, many others.

Raleigh Green is a visual designer and developer, a seasoned educator, and a versatile performing guitarist. A graduate of the Design Track at bloc.io, he designs user interfaces and experiences that reimagine art, music, and education.
Raleigh is the independent designer and developer of Music Sight Reader and the Interactive Sight Reading Series (a hybrid sight reading app / ebook library for iOS and macOS), and MusicSightReader.com.
He is also the designer and developer of Sing and Trace ABC (ebook for iOS and macOS), retuneMachine.com, fretShapes.com, the scaleColorizer, and NowhereNation.net, as well as numerous other multimedia collaborations centered on technology, art, music and the web.
Raleigh holds a BFA from the University of Missouri, with a focus on watercolor, studio drawing, and computer-aided multimedia. While at MU, Raleigh studied with acclaimed watercolorist and cartoonist, Frank Stack.
As a musician, Raleigh has studied with world-class musicians Charlie Banacos and Mick Goodrick and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music, where he was the recipient of the B.E.S.T Scholarship, Professional Music Award, and Quincy Jones Award. Raleigh regularly performs live with numerous bands and artists in the Boston area.
An educator for over two decades, Raleigh has taught at Berklee College of Music Summer Guitar Sessions, the National Guitar Workshop, Phillips Exeter Academy, Phillips Andover Academy, and is co-owner of Medford Music Studio with his wife (singer-songwriter and music educator) Laura Brereton.
Raleigh is the author of “The Guitar Style Resource" (Alfred Publishing) and “Guitar Altas: Jamaica” (Alfred Publishing), and is a proud artist endorsee for D'Addario strings and Hercules stands.
